The most common question from friends when they hear we are taking this long trip is, “what about the house?” We are very fortunate that leaving the house is not a problem.
We have excellent, caring neighbors who look out for each other. And we have family living very close.
Our daughter and her family lived with us for about 8 months while they were building their house nearby. They all still come over frequently, and the neighbors are familiar with them.
Our eldest granddaughter needs some extra cash because she has decided to go back to college. We built a binder with a list of chores to do around the house and set prices for each task. She comes over now to practice (and earn some money)!
And in case of any acute emergency, we gave our daughter power of attorney.
